Awareness Programme on Effective GCE (A/L) Examination Answering Methodologies and Preparation Strategies

The Community Outreach Science Unit (COSU) of the Faculty of Science, Eastern University, Sri Lanka, successfully conducted an Awareness Programme on Effective GCE (A/L) Examination Answering Methodologies and Preparation Strategies on 03 July 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at BT/KK/Vantharumoolai Mathya Maha Vidyalayam.
The programme targeted GCE (A/L) 2027 Science Stream students and teachers from the Kalkuda Education Zone. Its primary objective was to enhance students' understanding of effective examination answering techniques by providing guidance on systematic answer presentation, common mistakes to avoid, and the proper use of official marking schemes to improve examination performance.
The resource persons were Prof. S. Arasaretnam, Dr. G. Parthiban, and Dr. M.S.M. Raaif from the Department of Chemistry, and Dr. A.J.M. Harris from the Department of Zoology, Faculty of Science, Eastern University, Sri Lanka.
The programme was jointly organized by COSU and the School Development Societies of the Kalkuda Education Zone. This outreach initiative reflects COSU's continued commitment to strengthening science education and promoting academic excellence among school students in the Eastern Province and beyond.
